Anti-Doping Control

The doping control is always a crucial issue in every international sports event, thus we have to ensure that our procedures meet the international standards and that they comply with the regulations.

As stated in the IWGA rules, IWGA the governing body, of The World Games, has committed itself to enacting doping controls according to WADA, World Anti-Doping Agency. The KOC, as the host organization, is responsible for enforcing the practices of the World Anti-Doping Agency's Anti-Doping Rules.

The IWGA Medical Commission is responsible for fixing practical modalities for doping control tests, while experienced anti-doping officials from the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Office are in charge of the procedures. All samples will be analyzed in an WADA accredited laboratory.

  1. Authority to Test: Pursuant to the IWGA Anti-Doping Rules, all athletes participating in The World Games shall be subject to In-Competition Testing for the duration between their official registration at the Games and the Closing Ceremony of the Games. The authority to conduct and perform testing is with International World Games Association (IWGA), Kaohsiung Organizing Committee and Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Office. The chair of IWGA Medical Committee or his/her representative is responsible to oversee all Anti-Doping Testing during The World Games. WADA will be present as observers.

  2. Testing Standard: The testing conducted during the 8th World Games Kaohsiung under supervision of IWGA Medical Committee shall be in conformity with the International Standard for Testing in force at the time of testing.

  3. Analysis of Samples: All samples of athletes will be collected based on the doping control procedures in accordance with International Standard for Testing, and will be analyzed in a WADA- accredited laboratory, in this case, the laboratory in Tokyo, Japan shall apply. There will be two doping control stations set up to conduct the tests at TWG 2009. Around 260 athletes will be random and target tested. All samples will be collected based on doping control procedures which comply with all applicable international standards and the International World Games Association (IWGA) Anti-Doping Rules. The samples will be analyzed in a laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

  4. Governing Rules: The IWGA Anti-Doping Rules shall be applicable during The World Games, whereas the World Anti-Doping Code shall apply.

  5. Doping Control Guide for The World Games approved by the IWGA Medical Committee will be available for all participating delegations before their departure for the Games. Test Distribution Planning will be elaborated by the IWGA Medical Committee, which shall be followed by Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Office under the authority of IWGA and Kaohsiung Organizing Committee Anti-Doping Office.
